Summary: After a short introduction, we will discuss “Cyber Diplomacy” as it relates to the United States, Italy, and the larger European Union. This includes the history and a timeline of cyber diplomacy, current initiatives and measures, cooperation between the U.S. and Italy, and a discussion of current cybersecurity issues facing the U.S. and Europe today.

Biography: Christopher Moritz works as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Rome. Christopher is an Economic Officer and focuses on cybersecurity issues and economic sanctions. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Belmont University located in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Prior to working for the Department of State, Christopher spent 10 years working as a Special Forces “Green Beret” Officer in the U.S. Army and has extensive experience working across the Middle East and Latin America.
